Guide

This loadout is built for players who want to run Pluck for burst damage, allowing them to become a tanky-DPS hybrid that excels at pushing offlanes and making space for your damage champions. With proper coordination, a hook on any non-tank will result in a pick. Alone, this loadout boosts Makoa's survivability and ability to brawl in short engagements.

This loadout is not intended for point fighting, and Makoa will not be able to hold point solo with this loadout. He can contest if needed but he will need someone there with him. As such, you will only run this build when you have a main tank.

Re: Half Shell, it is just as good on off-lane but you want a build centered around your shield.

Rampage III - This card allows Makoa snowball momentum. Any kill he gets or contributes to gives him a massive burst of movement speed that allows him to chase down other people and reposition to set up for another hook. In teamfights it will essentially allow him to move from one person to the next in order of priority and confirm kills. III is serviceable enough you will feel the impact of the movespeed, but it can be raised at a cost to Salvage or Harden.

Strongarm V - The central card to this playstyle. 3 second CDR on his hook brings Makoa more in line with older builds of the game where he got his hook quickly and often. This card enables you to hook as much as possible, and combined with optional Chronos can make up for lack of accuracy.

Spring Tide I - Filler card that gives Makoa a small burst heal during his optimal combos and when hes trying to poke with shell spin.

Salvage III - Salvage is an important card for people who hook often as it allows you to brawl after a hook without waiting to reload. At level 3, you get 3 ammo back over 1.5s which guarantees enough to complete a kill on almost any non-tank champ.

Harden III - Harden also contributes to Makoa's brawling by giving him DR immediately after the hook, lessening the chance Makoa is killed immediately after if he has to fight at low health.
