Guide

For real though, there are 2 main limitations to Cripple Jenos.

1. Don’t use it when ur solo Healing. Without the Astral Mark Cards your healing output is gonna be much worse.

2. Not prefer using it when ur team has a bunch of CCs. Basically Cripple Jenos forces enemy to buy Resilience like 99% of the time, so ur undermining the effectiveness of ur teammates abilities if ur team is reliant on CC. I would use normal Luminary or even Binary Star.

Cripple Jenos is pretty dope as it creates so much snowballing potential and punishes bad positioning really hard. But also because of that, you might become the high priority of the enemy.

Here are some tips I would go with Cripple Jenos:

1. Grip the low HP targets for resets. I know this sounds bullshit, but I have seen a Youtuber (who speaks really fast) gripping full HP targets quite a bit.
And That’s why you should use your main more. Usually I spend half to nearly the whole clip before really using the Grip, to make sure my target is low enough to be executed ASAP for the resets.

2. Go in with your flanker. You need a bursty teammate to make your grip worthwhile. Also you can heal them when you get the elimination.

3. When you are alone, just RUN and hug corners. You can’t apply Cauterize with Main unless you have a teammate. So if their healer (alive) has some brain and heal the grip target you are probably very dead. You can be a little bit aggressive, but you are still a support that relies on Teammates.

4. Find corners. You should find safe spots to use the grip so no one can shoot you when you are gripping. Once the grip is finished you can either follow up with ur main or run. Using Grip in the open mostly results in death.

5. Avoid gripping Tanks unless they are critically low or trying to run away. It is really pointless to do so as they have HP to tank a focus fire from the Team, and they abilities like Shields and DRs to mitigate them.

So what are some good teammates with Cripple Jenos?

As I said before you need another Support to share the healing job. It would be nice for the other support to go for Hybrid too, as you might be lacking some healing with 2 supports in one team. Good candidates would be Soul Collector Seris (more healing and Combo ult with Jenos) and Focusing Lens Ying (easy damage on Grip targets and no CC). Smoke Skye is basically a healer that plays around the tanks and can work well with Grip Jenos too.

The rest of your teammates should also have range and burst too, as they could shoot the grip target everywhere. It would be nicer if they have some self sustain. Good candidates here would be Dredge (due to his infinite ammo and consistent heals on Hurl Harpoons). Champs that relies on Elimination Resets can also benefit from Cripple Jenos, like Sha Lin, Lian, Tyra and Willo. The less reloads they need the better it would be.

Tanks are also the same too. You would want them to be less reliant on CCs, have self sustain and be able to apply damage effectively everywhere. It would be nice have a deployable shield to cleanse Cauterize on themselves, but having burst damage isn’t a bad take either. That’s why Barik is always the best friend of Jenos. Makoa is also nice with the now Broken Half Shell and greatly improved damage fall-off with Cannons. Storm of Bullets Khan can also be nice with his high DPS (better with Headshots) and even though he got some CC skills, their duration and range often don’t matter as much as others.

For flanker class, again Range and Ammo is the key. I don’t like Zhin as much for a Cripple Jenos as his projectile takes time to travel and may not always hit as hard. (Skye don’t really go in on Smokes so she doesn’t really count here). Consistency on Damage is the key here, so as long as you can guarantee that anything goes. Moji can work (though her Ult would be less effective, you can also harm her ult if you grip a cookie lol) on tight maps, but usually the best one would be Androxus (punch ammo regen to guarantee enough ammo and consistent hitscan damage, also has snowball potential with Watchful). Koga on either Claws or Guns can work too as he has some serious damage and infinite ammo as well.
