Guide
This build is designed to keep Makoa at the very front of the fight. Use this if you recognise just how strong Makoa is at zoning and play him aggressively. This build is centred around movement speed, and uses that to get into postion easier. Makoa is formidable when he isn't restricted by his slow predictable movement. This will make you super slippery even when inside your shield. Card choices explained below:
Tsunami V - This card is amazing. Whether you use it to close a kill or get away, it basically guarantees either of those. I try to save this for getting away as it absolutely excels for that. You won't be immune, so use this to run back to point for heals, then get straight back in the game.
Determination IV - One of the most important cards for all tanks as it keeps you out of trouble more times than you will be able to count. Have a non-CC version of this build just in case your oppostion don't pick CC champions. I usually replace this with Tidal Grace for non-CC opposition. More often than not you will need to play this card though.
Rampage IV - Your other speed card. Once you get an elim, you will be super speedy for either moving onto the next kill or getting out of the way to get healed. This makes your ultimate pure filth. Moving at high speed makes Makoa very dangerous and very hardy as you will be so mcuh harder to kill if you keep hiding after each kill until you are back up again. Like Tsunami, this card is great for coming back to point from zoning.
Salvage I - Unfortunately Makoas hook just isn't as reliable as it used to be, which is why I don't bother reducing it's cooldown. You get it pretty quickly anyway. This card is more for the free ammo, which you get even if you miss your hook. A solid card for finishing kills.
Surf I - Thus can be switched out, but 10% is noticable and therefore useful in my opinion. The point of this build is to zone, so getting into position (and back to safety) quicker can only be a good thing.
I use this as my main Makoa build, whether I'm solo tanking or not. Makoa (with Leviathan) is so strong, he has plenty of health so really you should always be up close and personal. This build is amazing for creating space, clearing the point and surviving much more than a 'slow' Makoa would. Your movement speed buff stays intact when inside your Shell Shield which is a huge bonus.
As with all tanks, you really want to get full Cauterise and Rejuvenate first. Yellow cards are game dependant, I usually just get Morale Boost as he has a super strong ult. Nimble is better if you aren't killing much, just to help with that movement speed. Master Riding is also very strong but if you play this build right you will rarely die and therefore not need your mount. I can't see any reason why you wouldn't use Leviathan, the 1200 extra health alone makes it a no brainer. The CC immunity is also incredibly strong and makes you the 'contesting the point' king.
